World and Lore

Our history is woven into the very fabric of Albia. We discovered that the world was not merely a setting, but a living entity—a vast, breathing ecosystem where ancient technology and organic life coexist in a delicate, luminous balance.

Warm, peaceful and productive, with a hidden danger beneath the surface

Verdant Farm Rise is one of Albia’s floating habitats and one of the first major locations players will explore. Suspended high above the clouds, the island contains fertile crop terraces, animal meadows, irrigation channels, a working windmill and a small farming village. The habitat supplies food and natural resources to surrounding settlements. Norns live and work throughout the island, tending crops, caring for domesticated creatures, operating shops and carrying produce between the fields, storage buildings and market.

Verdant Farm Rise did not exist in Albia during the age of the Shee. It was one of several mysterious floating islands that arrived in Albia many years after the Shee had disappeared.

The Shee were never involved in creating, shaping or cultivating the island. By the time Verdant Farm Rise entered Albia’s skies, the Shee were already gone. How the floating islands reached Albia—and where they originally came from—remains unknown.

When Norns first reached Verdant Farm Rise, it was an untamed habitat covered in dense grass, ancient roots and mineral-rich soil. Natural springs travelled through channels inside its rocky core, while rivers flowed across the surface before falling into the clouds below.

Recognising the island’s potential, the Norns became its first settlers and caretakers. They redirected parts of the natural waterways into a central reservoir, dug irrigation trenches and established the first crop terraces. Houses, workshops, storage buildings and market stalls gradually formed a small village around the original farmstead.

Over many generations, the Norns transformed the wild island into a thriving agricultural community while preserving much of its natural ecosystem.

Verdant Farm Rise is now best known for CrownWheat, a distinctive purple-and-gold grain adapted to Albia’s atmosphere and the island’s mineral-rich soil. CrownWheat is processed at the windmill and used to produce food for Norns and domesticated creatures.
